You may like to know what’s involved in financial planning and what it is likely to cost. This page lays out the steps I’ll take with you when you ask me to build a financial plan or undertake investment work on your behalf and how much I charge for those services.
The financial planning process
This is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, find our your goals for you and your family and we will decide together if we are good fit.
If so, we will arrange a date for a Discovery meeting. If not, I will signpost you to someone who can help.
The first stage of the process is an opportunity for us to get to know each other a little better. I will start by asking you what you want to achieve, what your financial arrangements are, what financial concerns and questions you have, find out a little more about your relationship with money..
I’ll also ask you to complete a “Sustainable Investing Questionnaire” which will help me to understand what really matters to you and what kind of world you want to help shape. We will then discuss the results to ensure that your views on certain matters are fully understood.
The meeting will also help you find out a bit more about me, how I work and what my fees are so that you can decide whether we’re the right fit for each other.
I will build these recommendations into your financial plan – a guide to how you can reach your goals and make the impact you want on those social and environmental causes that are close to your heart.
Your plan may include a range of possible paths for you to consider, covering various “what if” scenarios. You will, of course, have plenty of time to ask questions and discuss what the next steps are.
If you have asked me to undertake investment work, I will establish where on the scale between light green and dark green you fall based on your values, so I am able to align your values and financial goals to a suitable portfolio.
If you are keen to use your money to positively impact people and the planet, we will discuss “impact investing” where you can focus on achieving certain aims, such as investing in social housing to alleviate homelessness or improve education or food security.
I will communicate regularly during this process and I am always on hand to answer any questions or concerns over the recommendations.
By entrusting me with this responsibility, you have the reassurance and peace of mind that come from knowing that everything will be taken care of on your behalf.
Ongoing services are optional, but I believe staying on board gives you the greatest chance of reaching your long-term goals as it allows me to monitor and review your progress, making adjustments to your arrangements as time goes on.
Nothing in life stays still for long, so by forming an ongoing relationship with me, you can feel secure that when there are changes in legislation, the markets, or your life, I can help you react quickly to ensure your financial plans aren’t knocked off track.
